Tom Mayock, the Teaching Artist brings the dance arts to thousands of children annually, in the form of standards based curriculum in elementary schools. With his unique K-5th grade curriculum of Jazz, Creative Moment, and student generated composition, Mr. Tom helps students to be better critical, collaborative and creative thinkers. He is the Co-Artistic Director and Choreographer of Sun Valley Elementary's World Dance Festival (5 years), and The Classroom Connections Festival (7 years). As a Teaching Artist he has been with SFartsED at 2 elementary schools (10 years). The Kid Dance Brigade After-School Program and Summer Camp in Marin county have been delighting and serving families for over a decade. As a Ballet and Modern Teacher he taught at Stage Dor (7 years) and at San Domenico Middle school (3 years). For 3 consecutive years he choreographed and staged Pirates of Penzance, Crazy For You, and Curtains for The Branson High School.
His signature Zumba program for active older adults has been a consistent activity in the lives of many Marin county residents for 18 years.
As a performing artist with El Teatro Danza Contemporanea De El Salvador (modern, indigenous and classical dance), and having attended Cornish College of the Arts, and having performed with ballet, jazz, modern companies, for corporate industrials, and for film, Tom Mayock has had a professional performing career.
Tom Mayock has performed, choreographed, and taught professionally in Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas, Alaska, the Bay Area, and Washington DC.
For Tom, dancing makes the living easier, and he believes that for most people dance is a source of joy, community, creativity, and inspiration. With his lifetime of experience in jazz, ballet, modern, creative movement, ballroom, fitness and group exercise, Tom Mayock is a singular sensation !
