With a comprehensive K-5th grade curriculum encompassing Jazz, Creative Movement, and student-generated composition, Mr. Mayock fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity among students.
Mr. Mayock's contributions extend beyond the classroom. He served as the Co-Artistic Director and Choreographer for the World Dance Festival at Sun Valley Elementary for five years, and for seven years, he played a pivotal role in shaping the Classroom Connections Festival. Currently, he continues to lead as Director and Choreographer for the Sun Valley Dance Festival, marking three years of dedicated stewardship.
As a distinguished Teaching Artist, Mr. Mayock has made a lasting impact over his 12-year tenure with SFartsED, impacting the lives of students across three elementary schools. Additionally, his Kid Dance Brigade After-School Program and Summer Camp, based in Marin County, have provided enriching experiences for families for over a decade.
With a wealth of knowledge as a Ballet, Jazz and Modern Teacher, Mr. Mayock contributed his expertise for seven years at Stage Dor and three years at San Domenico Middle School. His talent shines through his choreography, having brought productions such as "Pirates of Penzance," "Crazy For You," and "Curtains" to life at The Branson High School for three consecutive years.
Mr. Mayock's performing arts career spans across diverse disciplines, including El Teatro Danza Contemporanea De El Salvador, modern, indigenous, and classical dance. His training at Cornish College of the Arts laid the foundation for his professional journey, where he graced the stages of ballet, jazz, modern companies, corporate industrials, and film productions. Tom Mayock's reach extends across various regions, having performed, choreographed, and taught professionally in Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas, Alaska, the Bay Area, and Washington DC. To him, dance is more than an art form; it is a pathway to joy, community, creativity, and inspiration. With a lifetime of experience encompassing jazz, ballet, modern, creative movement, ballroom, fitness, and group exercise, Tom Mayock stands as a singular sensation in the world of dance.
