Each grade level in this K-5th grade dance program is a distinct series of 10-15, three-four minute dances, followed by guided creative movement.
A robust performance piece using either partnering, group work, props and an entrance/exit are of a typical 6-8-10-12-14 week dance residency.
The sequencing of movement in tandem with the language of dance - action, description, levels and artistic intention- aid in the development of critical thinking skills, creativity and self-confidence.
Furthermore, partnering and working as a group enhance social- emotional development.
Each standard in the K-5th grade curriculum is addressed: Artistic Perception, Creative Expression, Aesthetic Valuing, Historical and Cultural Valuing, & Relationships and Application.
